What is creative testing?
TL;DR — updated July 16 2026

Creative testing is the discipline of running multiple ad variants against real auctions to find what converts — hooks, formats, angles, avatars — then scaling winners and killing losers on data. The structure: batch variants that isolate one variable, small equal budgets, defined kill criteria (hook rate, CPM, CPA), promotion rules for winners. AI generation changed its economics completely: at $2.44 a video the constraint stopped being production and became discipline — most brands' real problem isn't making 20 variants, it's having the process to learn from them.

A weekly structure that works

Monday: generate batch (one variable per set). Tuesday–Thursday: run at test budget. Friday: read hook rate → CPM → CPA in that order; kill, promote, log the lesson. Repeat.

The single-variable rule

Test hooks against hooks, formats against formats. A variant that changes hook AND format teaches you nothing when it wins.

Generate product videos, UGC-style ads and hooks in about 5 minutes.

FAQs

How much budget does testing need?

Enough for signal, not significance theater — $10–30 per variant reads hook rate and CPM reliably; conversions confirm on the survivors.

How many variants per test?

4–8 per variable; more spreads budget too thin to read.
